Info & Referral

As a center for Independent Living, Programs and Services is the heart of what we do at LIFTT. Providing many different consumers with a variety of programs, that can help navigate, aide, and tackle the many obstacles that may come up in life. We have broken them down into 6 categories.

Information and Referral is the first and most basic step in LIFTT’s programs and services. This is when the community, as well as the individual consumer, has an issue with something that might be easily solved with a couple of phone calls, application help, a reference, etc.

We at LIFTT are here to help with basic info and referrals in:

  • Medicare
  • Medicaid
  • Social Security benefits
  • Food insecurity
  • Human & civil rights
  • Affordable & accessible housing
  • Home modification
  • Service animals
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Accessible technology
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Transportation

And more!

Are Family Advocates Important?

People living with disabilities sometimes need a family member to advocate for them. That is what happened with the mother of a young woman named Katey, who was struggling with her disabilities and lack of educational support. Already having fallen behind in her studies, Katey and her mother were eager to find a resource that could help. Jen, an independent living specialist in LIFTT’s Glendive office, recognized Katey’s willingness to improve herself and set her up on the 504 plan, which was developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment. Obtaining the help she needed from the LIFTT staff and her school, Katey now looks forward to completing her education and advocating for herself.

The decision to reestablish an office presence in Glendive is a logical step for LIFTT’s growth strategy. Eastern Montana has a diverse population in need of independent living services that recognize and celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of the region.

The Glendive office is located at 120 S. Kendrick Ave and can be reached by calling (406) 948-8500.
