Kristin Porter, brings a wealth of experience from both the Air Force and the private sector as she takes over at upLIFTT Thrift Billings.
A great thrift store brings together unexpected treasures and people who know how to keep things running. Meet Kristin Porter, the new manager of the Billings upLIFTT Thrift Store!
Kristin brings a background in team leadership, financial management, customer service, and human services. She is also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served as a Scientific Applications Specialist. Coordinating people, managing details, and solving problems are familiar territory for her, all useful skills in a store where every donation brings something different through the door.
Before coming to Billings joining LIFTT, Kristin worked at Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield Missouri, where her roles ranged from supporting people in recovery to leading a team of operational specialists. Her experience combines careful attention to resources with an understanding of the importance of listening and treating people with respect.
At upLIFTT, those strengths come together around a community purpose. Kristin is motivated to support LIFTT’s mission of empowering aging individuals and people with disabilities to live independently. Managing the store offers an opportunity to put her organizational skills to work while helping shoppers, donors, and community members connect with that mission.
And while her résumé includes overseeing millions of dollars in revenue, we suspect thrift-store shoppers will be just as interested in finding a wonderful bargain for a few dollars!
Please join us in welcoming Kristin. The next time you visit upLIFTT in Billings, stop by, introduce yourself, and explore what’s on the shelves. You might leave with a useful household find, a new favorite book, or something you never knew you needed.
Welcome to the LIFTT team, Kristin. We’re glad you’re here!
