The recent flooding across southern Montana has unfortunately caused much damage in several communities and necessitated the activation of emergency measures such as evacuations and sheltering. Below you can find links to reliable resources of information about the flooding situation in Southern Montana and the emergency services being provided. We will try to update this post as needed.
- The Billings office National Weather Service is constantly issuing/updating flood watches, warnings, etc for our entire region.
- Find an open Red Cross Shelter, at this time there are three red cross shelters are active in our service area: Bridger High School (429 W Park Avenue in Bridger), Carbon County Fair Grounds (94 Rodeo Road in Red Lodge) and the Stillwater County Fairgrounds (328 5th Ave North in Columbus). This shelter list at redcross.org will be updated as new or different shelters are put online.
- The Carbon County Local Emergency Preparedness Committee (LEPC) is constantly updating Carbon Alert and the Carbon Alert Facebook Page with evacuation notices, sheltering information, road closures, and other important bulletins.

- As flooding continues to move down the Yellowstone River system you can find accurate Disaster and Emergency Services info on official Facebook pages for other counties here: Yellowstone, Big Horn, Rosebud, Custer, Musselshell, Dawson, Richland
- All entrances to Yellowstone National Park are closed at this time
- The City of Billings has been compelled to shut down its water treatment plant and asks that those on city water please refrain from using sprinklers and irrigation systems at this time
- Montana Disaster & Emergency Services Statewide Situation Reports provides the official statewide picture including information about Gov. Gianforte’s disaster declaration and other measures.
- Local media including the Stillwater County News, Carbon County News, Billings Gazette, KTVQ, KULR8, Red Lodge FM 99 & Yellowstone Public Radio are constantly updating their reporting as well
- Ready.gov has general information about being prepared for flooding in your area as well as many other disaster situations.
